Whether you are staying cozy at home or already dreaming of the sand, here is my personal checklist for maintaining that glow and preventing those pesky post-wax breakouts or eczema flares:
1. The 24-Hour Rule
Immediately after a wax, your follicles are open and sensitive. For the first 24 hours:
No hot tubs or saunas: Heat can irritate the freshly waxed area.
Avoid heavy workouts: Sweat can lead to breakouts in open pores!
Skip the harsh scrubs: Give your skin a full day to breathe before manual exfoliation.
2. Hydrate Like You Mean It
Cold air and heaters strip moisture from your skin. I recommend a "double-down" approach:
Morning: Use a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer.
Evening: Apply a body serum followed by a rich butter or oil. This creates a "seal" that repairs your skin while you sleep.
3. Check Your Labels!
I am a stickler for ingredients. When you’re shopping for your home routine, look for these Green Flags:
Paraben-Free: To avoid hormonal disruption and irritation.
Oil-Free (for face/specific areas): To prevent clogged pores and "body-acne."
Vegan & Gluten-Free: For the cleanest, most inclusive formulations.
Natural Butters (Shea, Cupuaçu): For deep, lasting hydration without the waxiness.
4. Consistency is Key
Don't wait until the day before your appointment to start moisturizing! Daily care makes the hair removal process much easier and less painful. If you work out, try to shower as soon as possible to keep your skin clear of bacteria.
The Transition: From Winter Layers to Beach Vibes
We are at that point in the year where we are all staring at our calendars, counting down the days until the first beach trip of 2026. Transitioning your skin from heavy winter coats to a swimsuit is a process.
A Note on Body Neutrality: It is 100% okay to have hair! Whether you choose to grow it out or groom it is a personal vibe.
However, if your goal is to be silky smooth for the shoreline, waxing is the absolute best way to get long-lasting results. But here’s the pro-tip: to get the best wax, you have to prepare your skin the right way. A "dry wax" on dehydrated winter skin can lead to breakage and ingrowns. By following the hydration and labeling steps above, you’re ensuring the hair lifts easily and your skin stays calm.
My Current Favorites for Winter-to-Spring Skin
If you’re looking for new products to add to your routine, these are the ones I’ve been testing and loving lately:
For Overnight Repair: The Pacifica Wake Up Beautiful Set is a game-changer with its granactive retinoid and melatonin.
For On-the-Go Protection: Don't forget your SPF! The COOLA Sun Essentials Kit is my travel (and daily) must-have.
Stay glowing, and I can't wait to see you all for your mobile appointments soon!
Are you planning a tropical getaway soon, or are you sticking to the local pool this season?
Always check the ingredients before using a new product. Your skin is the largest organ. Remember, some of what you put on your skin can be absorbed into your bloodstream
