The Quick Contour: How to Sculpt Your Face in 10 Minutes

Contouring is often seen as an advanced, intimidating technique. You see videos with dozens of marks and lines across the face, but then you spend forever blending them away!

I believe in simple, straight-to-the-point contouring. In my latest video, I show you how to use multiple foundations and powders to create a high-definition, professional look—perfect for headshots—without wasting product or time [05:34].

Prepping for a Smooth Canvas

Before we even touch the contour, your skin needs to be balanced.

The Prime: I use LAMIK Balancing Moisturizer as my primer [00:52]. Since I have dry skin, this ensures the makeup applies evenly without catching on dry patches.
The Brow Shield: Even if your brows aren't perfectly shaped, don't worry! I use South Side Brow Powder and a bit of Brightening Cream (K33 under and K34 on top) to create a clean, defined arch that "covers" any excess hairs [02:42].

The Triple Foundation Technique

Instead of one shade, I use three different LAMIK foundations to create natural depth and light on the face:

Highlight (M24): Apply this lighter shade in a triangular motion right under the eyes [05:48]. This makes your eyes stand out and provides a smooth, "high-up" look.
Deepen (M27): Use this darker shade where you want shadows—right underneath the cheekbone, along the jawline, the hairline, and down the sides of the nose [06:21].
Blend (M25): This is my true skin tone match. I swipe this over the rest of my face to blend the highlight and the contour together [07:01]. JT Pro Tip: Use a swiping or dabbing motion with a sponge, not a circular one, or you’ll wipe your hard work away! [07:22].

Setting the "Reveal"

Because LAMIK foundation is water-based, you must set it with mineral powder to ensure it doesn't sweat off, especially in humid places like Houston [08:04].

The Highlighting Powder: I use Rich Vanilla (a lighter shade) heavily under the eyes for that extra pop [08:27].
The Contouring Powder: Use Dark Chocolate in the hollows of the cheeks and jawline [08:39].
The Final Blend: Sweep Light Caramel (my skin tone) over the entire face with a Kabuki brush to pull the whole look together [08:59].
