This year marks an incredible milestone for me: 10 years since I officially embarked on my journey as a beauty expert! It's hard to believe how quickly the time has flown. Looking back, my path wasn't always clear. After leaving TSU with a less-than-stellar 1.9 GPA, I felt a bit lost, trying to figure out my next step. Taking the leap and enrolling in Paul Mitchell was, without a doubt, one of the best decisions I've ever made. I absolutely loved every single moment of it.
One of the most valuable lessons I absorbed during my time at Paul Mitchell has stuck with me throughout my career: "The client knows and understands their beauty best, listen to them." This simple yet profound statement has shaped my approach to everything I do, especially as I ventured into the world of wig making.
Your Vision, Your Wig: The All Love Your Beauty Difference
When I started creating wigs under my brand, All Love Your Beauty, this principle became my guiding star. I firmly believe that every wig should be as unique as the individual who wears it. That's why all All Love Your Beauty wigs are custom-made to perfectly fit the client's desires and needs.
I don't create a single wig until I have a thorough understanding of what the client envisions. It's a collaborative process, ensuring that the final product is something they will truly love and feel confident wearing. To achieve this, I always start with a conversation, asking some key questions to understand their hair journey and goals.
Here are some of the basic questions I ask my clients before I even begin crafting their custom wigs:
What is your current hair style and condition? This helps me understand their natural hair texture and any challenges they might be facing.
What is your overall hair goal? Are they looking for a natural everyday look, something glamorous for a special occasion, or a protective style?
Do you want to leave out your hair and blend it in? Or do you want to put all your hair up? This determines the construction of the wig and the type of cap needed.
What type of hair pattern are you currently looking for? Straight, wavy, curly – there are so many beautiful options!
What patterns have you tried in the past? Understanding their past experiences helps me avoid patterns they didn't love and explore new possibilities.
Do you prefer long or short hair? This seems basic, but it's an essential starting point.
What is your desired length? Being specific about length ensures the wig meets their exact expectations.
What is the current color of your natural hair? This helps with blending if they plan to leave some hair out.
What is a color you would like to try? Whether it's a subtle change or a bold new hue, color can completely transform a look.
Do you want clips in your wig? This is important for secure and comfortable wear.
By asking these questions and truly listening to my clients, I can create wigs that not only look amazing but also make them feel beautiful and confident. It's the foundation of the All Love Your Beauty experience, and it's a lesson I'm grateful to have learned early in my beauty journey. Here's to many more years of helping people embrace and love their beauty!
