Since I cut my dreads off in April 2018, I've rediscovered my love for wigs. They've given me a new way to express myself, to change my look on a whim, and to have fun with my style. But wearing a wig also comes with a million questions from people, and sometimes, the comments are a lot to handle.
It's one thing to get curious questions, but it’s another to deal with opinions you didn’t ask for. Like when you're just trying to check out at Walmart and someone asks, “Is that your real hair?” or “Why do you wear wigs?” Or when you walk into work feeling yourself, and a coworker says, “I like your other hair better,” or “You keep changing your hair, we never know what you're going to do.”
What you choose to do with your hair is no one's business. While I make it a rule to keep my opinions about other people's beauty to myself—unless it’s a compliment—the world doesn’t always follow that rule. So, to wear my wig with pride, I've had to remember 5 simple rules.
1. If you love the way you look, you look great.
The most important opinion about your hair is your own. No matter what you do, someone is going to love your look and someone is going to hate it. All that matters is that you love it and you wear it with pride. Your confidence is the best accessory.
2. Take care of your wig.
Proper care is key to a beautiful wig. Use the right products for the type of hair your wig is made of. Avoid sleeping in your wig or always wearing it in a ponytail, as these habits can cause damage. Treating your wig well will help it last longer and look its best every time.
3. Get to know your wig.
The more you know, the better you'll be at picking wigs and taking care of them. Understand the different hair types, cap constructions, and styling options. The more knowledgeable you are, the more confident you'll feel in your choices.
4. Take care of your natural hair.
Don’t forget about the hair underneath! Nothing is worse than losing your hair because you didn’t take care of it under your wig. Make sure you're keeping your natural hair clean, moisturized, and protected. A healthy foundation is key for healthy hair.
5. Get professional help.
Finding the right wig can be hard, so don't be afraid to ask for help. Have an expert style your wig for you. If you need it, ask an expert to go wig shopping with you. An expert can make the process easier and faster, helping you find the perfect match for your style and face shape.
I hope these rules help you wear your wig with pride and confidence. If you have any questions about wigs or would like to buy a custom one, don't hesitate to reach out!

Blush Collection - Body Wave
The body wave hair pattern is a great choice for a big, voluminous look. It has a wonderful texture that adds body and movement, and it can be easily curled or straightened using a 1-inch curling iron or flat iron. For a tighter curl, simply section the hair into smaller pieces before styling.
Ingredient Spotlight:
Alpha-Hydroxy Acids (AHAs)
Alpha-Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) are a group of natural acids often derived from fruits and milk sugars. Unlike physical scrubs that exfoliate with particles, AHAs are chemical exfoliants that work on a deeper level to transform your skin.
How They're Used in Skincare
Treats Dry Skin: While known for exfoliation, some AHAs like Lactic Acid are also powerful humectants. This means they draw moisture into the skin, helping to hydrate and relieve dryness. By breaking down the bonds of dead skin cells, they allow new, healthier cells to come to the surface, which improves the skin's ability to retain moisture.
Thickens Skin: It may seem counterintuitive, but AHAs can actually thicken the deeper layers of your skin over time. They work by encouraging collagen production, which helps make the skin firmer and more resilient. This is why AHAs are a key ingredient in anti-aging products and are known to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Smooths and Brightens: By gently dissolving the "glue" that holds dead skin cells together, AHAs reveal the fresher, brighter skin beneath. This process helps to smooth skin texture, improve radiance, and even out skin tone.
AHAs in Makeup
You'll find AHAs in some makeup products like primers and foundations. They are added to help improve the skin's texture before makeup application, creating a smoother canvas for a flawless finish. The exfoliating and hydrating properties of AHAs in these formulas can also help to prevent makeup from looking cakey or settling into dry patches.
Always check the ingredients before using a new product. Your skin is the largest organ. Remember, some of what you put on your skin can be absorbed into your bloodstream
