One of the best things about being a Beauty Professional is having the opportunity to connect with and empower youth. My goal is always to encourage them to take charge of their beauty, to learn and understand what makes them feel beautiful. I also try to instill in them that part of a professional uniform—no matter their future path—is presenting their best self.
Below are some photos from my time working at LAMIK. LAMIK shares this passion for empowering youth, ensuring they know they are beautiful and worthy. As a Beauty Professional, I want to give all my clients services that allow them to walk into their daily life with their head high and feeling fully confident in their outward look.
Here are 5 Essential Beauty Tips I Give to Youth to help them start their journey with confidence:
1. Master Your Cleansing Routine
Washing your face daily is non-negotiable! The key is to understand what your skin needs each day.
Find a foaming wash, oil wash, and milk wash that you love. I personally keep one of each on hand at all times.
Choose the face wash you use based on what your skin needs for that day. For more information on finding the right product, check out my blog post: "Finding The Perfect Cleanser."
2. Embrace the Power of Toner
Toner is a crucial step to balance your skin after cleansing.
You should have two different types of toner and choose one based on your needs for that day.
One should be your everyday toner, typically witch hazel-based and very gentle on the face.
You should also find a toner that is great at treating acne. Always stay away from toners that have alcohol, as they will be too drying. If you have a severe breakout and must use a toner with alcohol, make sure to follow with a rich, yet non-drying, moisturizer immediately.
3. Moisturize Daily, Strategically
Moisturizer is your skin's best friend! Just like cleansers, you need options.
You should have four types of moisturizers, choosing which one to use based on what your skin needs.
One should be oil-absorbing for shinier days, another extra moisturizing for when you're dry, and a third should be a good makeup primer.
Finally, you should have a reliable everyday moisturizer perfect for your normal skin type. Check out some of my older posts for more information on how to pick the best moisturizer for you.
4. Learn a Basic Makeup Look (and Your Tools)
Makeup doesn't have to be complicated to make you feel confident.
Learn a basic, go-to makeup look. You should have a brow color, mascara, liner, foundation, concealer, powder, blush, lipstick, and lip gloss that you love.
Invest in essential brushes: a brow brush, eye shadow brush, foundation brush, powder brush, and blush brush. Always use clean brushes! This helps the product go on smoothly, keeps your makeup clean, makes it last longer, and most importantly, protects your skin from bacteria. Check out my YouTube channel for more information on how to clean your brushes.
5. Invest in Professional Beauty Services
Looking and feeling your best sometimes requires the touch of an expert.
Regularly get your beauty services done: hair cuts, face waxing, body waxing, and nails. You don't have to do anything major—just consistently take care of your beauty needs.
Budget for your beauty services. Getting your services done by a professional gives you time to relax and enjoy your self-care, leaving you refreshed and confident.
Empowering youth with these foundational beauty habits helps them not only look good but also feel great, ready to tackle anything the new school year (or life!) throws their way.
Ingredient Spotlight:
Always check the ingredients before using a new product. Your skin is the largest organ. Remember, some of what you put on your skin can be absorbed into your bloodstream
