Embracing Your Natural Softness

If you have a round face, I have some great news for you: You will always look young! The soft features of a round face are the ultimate "fountain of youth."

As a beauty expert, I see many people with round faces trying to "contour away" their shape or force sharp cheekbones where they aren't meant to be. My top tip? Don't over-contour. Instead of trying to change your face, let's use makeup to play up your best features—especially those eyes and lips!

Follow my 7-step guide to a gorgeous, natural look for round faces:

Step 1: The Brows

Start with your frame. Fill your brows in with a color that matches your hair tone. Then, highlight the brow bone using a concealer that matches your natural skin color. This keeps the look clean and elevated.

Step 2: Eye Makeup

Base your eyelids with your skin-tone concealer to create a smooth canvas. Here is a great trick for round faces: use a bright color on your lid and a darker shade in your crease. This contrast creates depth and plays up your eye shape beautifully.

Step 3: Bold Liner

Line both your top and bottom lash lines with a bold color. This brings all the attention to your eyes, making them the "star" of your face.

Step 4: Lashes

Apply a natural strip lash (check out my previous post on lashes for tips!) or simply apply a few coats of your favorite mascara to open up the eyes.

Step 5: Foundation and Powder

Before you start your face makeup, make sure to clean under your eyes with a little toner and reapply your moisturizer. A fresh, hydrated base is everything! Apply your foundation and set with powder as usual.

Step 6: Cheeks and "Soft" Contour

Instead of heavy dark lines, apply a soft rose blush to your cheekbones. To get that "Total Beauty" glow, highlight the tops of your cheekbones with a gold tone. This adds light and lift without the harshness of a heavy contour.

Step 7: The Final Pop

Finish your look with a bold lip. Since the rest of the face is soft and glowing, a bold lip color provides the perfect balance.
