Eye-Shadow Colors for Blue Eyes

Here are six of my favorite colors to use on blue eyes to make them stand out:

Purple: From light lilac to deep plum, purple shades create a beautiful contrast with blue eyes.
Deep Brown: A classic choice, deep browns add warmth and definition without overpowering your natural eye color.
Dark Gray: This is a sophisticated alternative to black. A smoky gray can add a soft intensity that complements blue eyes beautifully.
Rose: Think pinks and rosier hues. These colors bring out the coolness of blue eyes, making them appear more vibrant.
Taupe: This is a fantastic neutral shade that adds subtle depth and dimension for a natural, everyday look.
Bronze: For a truly striking effect, bronze shades with a hint of shimmer will make blue eyes sparkle and appear brighter.

Mica

Mica is a general term for a group of 37 earth-derived silicate minerals that are widely used in cosmetics. It's most known for imparting sparkle and shine, but its functions go far beyond that.

Key Functions & Benefits

Coloring Agent / Pigment: Mica is often used in its pearlescent white form, but it can be found in a wide range of hues. It is frequently coated in titanium dioxide to maximize its iridescent color.
Texture Enhancer: Mica can be used to improve the feel and application of a product.
Occlusive / Opacifying Agent: It can impart varying degrees of opacity, helping to thicken emulsions and create a more solid color payoff.
Light-Reflective Quality: This is what makes mica so desirable. It gives the skin a healthy-looking glow and can be used to brighten shadowy areas, like under the eyes.

What You Need to Know

Application: The amount of shine from mica depends on the specific mineral, how finely it's milled, and its concentration in the formula. It's safe for use in products for the eyes and lips, with concentrations ranging from as low as 1% to over 60%.
Synthetic Mica: This form is often called synthetic fluorphlogopite mica or artificial mica. It's created in a lab and typically acts as a bulking agent to thicken products.
Ethical Sourcing: There have been historical concerns about child labor in mica mining. Many companies now choose suppliers who are part of the Responsible Mica Initiative (RMI) to ensure ethical sourcing practices.

Always check the ingredients before using a new product. Your skin is the largest organ. Remember, some of what you put on your skin can be absorbed into your bloodstream
