Focus on Your Own Glow
I’ve always lived by a simple rule: “Don’t point out other’s bad habits.” It is so much more rewarding to focus on our own growth and our own beauty. When we spend our energy perfecting our own craft and character, we don’t have time to worry about what everyone else is doing wrong.
In the spirit of trying something new for yourself, let’s talk about a trend that is taking the beauty world by storm: The Reverse Ombre. While the classic ombre is dark on the outside, the Reverse Ombre flips the script, creating a "stained" or "bitten" look that is incredibly chic. Here is how to master it in 5 steps:
Step 1: Prep the Canvas
First things first—get rid of any dry skin. Exfoliate your lips gently to ensure a smooth, even surface for your color to sit on.
Step 2: Hydrate & Blot
Apply a light oil to nourish the lips. To make sure the makeup actually stays put, blot your lips on a tissue. You want them to feel soft, not slippery.
Step 3: Create a Neutral Base
Apply a thin layer of concealer over your entire lip. This cancels out your natural pigment, allowing the light and dark colors of the ombre to show up exactly as they should.
Step 4: The Lighter Frame
Here is where the "reverse" happens! Instead of a dark liner, outline your natural lip line with a color that is lighter than the main shade you plan to use. This creates a soft, diffused halo around your mouth.
Step 5: The Deep Center
Apply your darker lip color only to the very middle of your lips. Gently press your lips together to let the color bleed outward into the lighter shade, but keep that intensity right in the center.
The Reverse Rule
Pro Tip: For this look, your lips should transition from lighter on the outside to darker on the inside. This creates a youthful, high-fashion "pop" that looks amazing in photos!
