5 Tips for Small Lips

If there is one thing I tell all my clients, it’s this: "Keep your lips smooth at all times." Whether your lips are full or petite, hydration is the foundation of beauty. When your lips are hydrated and smooth, every color you apply looks professional and polished.

Many women with smaller lips feel like they can’t wear certain colors or that they have to "fake" a bigger pout. But the truth is, you can have a stunning, stand-out lip by simply enhancing your natural shape.

Here are my top 5 tips for making the most of your smile:

1. Avoid the "Over-Draw" Trap

It can be tempting to draw way outside your lines to make your lips look larger, but this often looks unnatural in person. Don't try to over-draw your lips. Instead, embrace your unique shape and focus on making it look crisp and defined.

2. Define to the Edge

To make your lips look as full as possible, define them with a lip liner that goes all the way to your natural lip line. Use a steady hand to trace the very outer edge of your pigment. This ensures you aren't "shrinking" your lips by leaving the edges bare.

3. The "Light" Trick

One of the best ways to create the illusion of fullness is to put a lighter color in the middle of your lip. After applying your main lipstick, dab a slightly lighter shade or a touch of gloss right in the center. This catches the light and makes the lips appear more "plump."

4. Play Up Your Eyes

In beauty, it's all about balance! If you are self-conscious about your lip size, focus on your eyes. Use that Purple and Gold look we talked about or some LAMIK Show Out Mascara to draw the attention upward. A bold eye with a perfectly groomed, natural lip is a high-fashion look.

5. Clean It Up
