Your Skin’s Best Friend
We spend so much time finding the perfect skincare and the highest quality makeup, but there is one step many people skip:
Cleaning their brushes.

If you find yourself breaking out in the same spots or noticing your makeup looks "muddy," your brushes might be the culprit. Brushes trap old makeup, oil, and dead skin cells. If you don't clean them, you are just buffing all that dirt back into your pores every morning!
Here is my professional guide to keeping your tools (and your skin) flawless.
The Daily Refresh: Dry Cleaning
You should use a dry brush cleaner after every single use.
Why? It removes the surface pigment so you don't mix your "Night Life" green shadow into your "Sandy Beaches" white shadow the next day! Most importantly, it prevents oil and bacteria from sitting on the bristles and clogging your pores.
The Deep Clean: Once a Week
Every 7 to 14 days, your brushes need a "spa day" with a deep cleaning brush shampoo.
The Technique: Apply the shampoo to a brush cleaning pad and swirl the brush until it foams up. This works the soap deep into the bristles to pull out every bit of foundation and powder.
Pro Tip: Don't get the brushes too wet. You want to focus the water and soap on the bristles, not the handle.
The Right Way to Dry
How you dry your brushes is just as important as how you wash them!
Lay them Flat: Never stand your brushes up in a cup to dry. Water will seep down into the "ferrule" (where the handle holds the bristles) and rot the wood or dissolve the glue.
The Upside-Down Trick: If you can find a brush stand, dry your brushes upside down. Gravity will pull the extra water out of the bristles and away from the handle, making your professional tools last much longer.
