Top Self-Defense Tips Every Woman Should Know
We talk a lot about revealing your inner beauty, but today I want to talk about revealing your inner strength. My mission is to empower women, and that includes staying safe and feeling confident in every environment.
Self-defense isn't just about technique; it’s about a mindset. Whether you are walking to your car after a late shift or traveling solo, your safety is the priority. Here are five essential defense tips every woman should keep in her "survival kit":
1. Create Distance and Block
If someone approaches you or tries to grab you, your first priority is space. Try to break away immediately and keep your arms up to block your attacker as much as possible. Use your bag, your coat, or your arms to create a barrier between you and them.
2. Use Your Power
If you are in a situation where you must defend yourself, don’t hold back. Punch and kick your attacker as much as you possibly can. Use your elbows and knees—they are some of the strongest points on your body.
3. Fear is a Tool—Use It
Being scared is a completely normal response to danger. Don’t let the fear freeze you; let it fuel you. Be strong, stay focused, and FIGHT BACK. Your survival instinct is your greatest asset.
4. You Don’t Need a Black Belt to Fight
You don’t have to be a self-defense expert to protect yourself. Hit any and everywhere as hard as you can with whatever you have. If you have keys, a heavy water bottle, or a heel, use it. Remember: Your goal is to hurt your attacker. They intend to hurt you, so you must do whatever is necessary to stop them and get away.
5. Make Some Noise
Silence is an attacker's friend. Scream, yell, cry—do whatever you have to do to draw attention to yourself. Make it impossible for people to ignore that you need help. Your voice is one of your most powerful weapons.
Strength is Beautiful
We want every member of our community to feel powerful and protected. Take these tips to heart, share them with your daughters, your sisters, and your friends, and always stay aware of your surroundings.
Stay Strong. Stay Safe. Stay Beautiful.
