Stop Asking, Start Telling
As a beauty professional, I get asked the same questions almost every single day: “JeTara, does this color look good on me?” or “What colors look best on me?”
Do you want to know a secret? I almost always laugh when I hear this! Why? Because beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder. Two people can look at the exact same shade of lipstick or hair color and see something completely different.
Don't waste your time asking the world if you look great—tell the world you look great. If you love what you put on your face and your hair, that confidence is going to outshine any "color theory." You have to be your own first fan. When you move with confidence, the world has no choice but to agree!
Spotlight: Golden Tips & Healthy Locs
While confidence is the first step, professional care is the second! Check out this transformation below. My client wanted a bright, golden-blonde highlight specifically on the tips of her locs.
Doesn't that gold just glow against his skin? We achieved this look by being intentional and careful. If you are thinking about changing your hair color, keep these three rules in mind:
See a Professional: Please, do not try to "DIY" your hair color at home—especially with locs! You risk major chemical damage and thinning that can take years to repair.
The Consultation Matters: A good professional will take their time. They should ask you a dozen questions about your hair history and your goals before they even touch a bottle of dye.
The Aftercare is Non-Negotiable: Once you add color, you must add moisture. Deep conditioning becomes your new best friend to keep those locs strong and vibrant.
🛍️ The "Confidence" Kit
When you're rocking a bold new hair color, you need to keep up your hair care. Here are the essentials:
Hair Oil – Because confidence looks better with a healthy shine. You need your scalp to stay high in moisture and your locs too.
Deep Conditioner – To keep your hair healthy and keep your hair from breaking off.
Deep Moisturizing Shampoo – Essential for color-treated locs to prevent breakage and help color to last longer.
Final Thought
Whether it's a golden highlight or a bright purple hair, if you love it, it’s "your" color. Own your look, take care of your crown, and stop waiting for permission to feel beautiful.
What’s a color you’ve always wanted to try but were too "scared" to pull off?
