Why I Stopped Deleting My Photos

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but for a long time, the only words I saw when I looked at photos of myself were "too big."

I’m sharing some photos today of me at my biggest. I’ve always loved myself, but I’ll be honest—I hate it when I gain weight. In the past, I used to delete every photo where I didn't like how I looked. I would even avoid the camera altogether just to forget the weight was there.

Looking back now, I regret that so much.

The photos below represent some of the best times of my life. I am surrounded by my family, and to me, family is love. By deleting those pictures, I was almost deleting those memories. I’ve realized that I have two choices: I can either just take photos the way I am, or I can work to stay "photo ready."

Choosing to Stay Photo Ready

I have chosen to stay photo ready. Not for anyone else, but for me. Loving my beauty means being honest about my journey. I’ve learned my triggers, and I’ve accepted a simple truth: I love to eat!

Even when I’m eating healthy, I love the joy of food. Because I’m not willing to give up that joy, I’ve made a commitment to myself to stay active. Whether it’s my personal fitness routine at home or just staying on the move, working out is how I balance my love for food with my goal to feel my best.

My Lesson to You

Don't wait until you reach a "perfect" number to start capturing memories. Love your beauty enough to be in the photo today, and love yourself enough to work for the health you want tomorrow.
