The Power of a Strong Red Lip

Cranberry & Chocolate

Sometimes, you just need a look that feels strong, bold, and confident. Today that always starts with a deep, dark red lip.

I wanted a lip look that had depth and drama, but still felt wearable for a day of meetings and studio work. By pairing a bold lip with more naturally styled eyes and skin, the red really gets to be the star of the show!

The Perfect Red Pout

To get this "Strong Red" look, I didn't just use one color. I layered for dimension:

The Liner: I started with Chocolate lip liner. Using a deep brown to line a red lip adds a beautiful richness and prevents the color from bleeding.


The Color: I filled my lips with Kudos, a stunning deep cranberry red. The mix of the brown liner and the cranberry lipstick created the perfect custom shade.


Natural Eyes & Defined Cheeks

Because the lips were so bold, I kept my eyes and face soft but structured:

  • Eyes: I used Blonde Brow Define Powder on my lid for a clean, matte base. To add a little "nighttime" shimmer, I used Laid Back (a deep brown with sparkles) in my crease.

  • Lashes: I wore a soft set of LAMIK More Length lashes. These are medium-long, spaced out, and even, giving me that "extra" look without feeling heavy.

  • The Contour: I love multi-tasking products! I used Auburn Brow Define Powder under my cheekbones to contour, and topped it with I 10 (a berry red blush) on the apples of my cheeks for a healthy, flushed glow.

When wearing a dark red lip like Kudos, make sure to use a lip brush for the edges! It keeps the lines sharp and professional. If you make a mistake, just use a tiny bit of concealer to clean up the edges for that "Photo Ready" finish.
