Working with LAMIK at events like the BB Sexy Contour Fashion Show, I’ve seen it all. Ideally, there is a full team of artists ready for every model. However, in the fast-paced world of fashion, things happen—models run late, call times get shifted, or the backstage area gets hectic.
Every professional model should know how to "DIY" a runway look just in case. But remember: Runway makeup is NOT everyday makeup. What looks natural in the mirror can look "washed out" under those intense runway lights.

Runway vs. Everyday: The Key Differences
Lighting: In everyday life, we deal with soft, natural light. On the runway, you have high-intensity flash and overhead spots. This flattens the face, so you have to "over-sculpt" your features.
Distance: The audience isn't seeing you from inches away; they are seeing you from 10–50 feet away. Your features (eyes, lips, and cheekbones) need to be defined enough to be seen from the back row.
Durability: Between the hot lights and the quick outfit changes, runway makeup has to be "bulletproof."
The Model’s 5-Step Runway Survival Guide
If you find yourself in the chair (or doing it yourself), follow these rules to stay #PhotoReady:
1. Exaggerate the Contour On the runway, your natural bone structure disappears under the lights. Use a deeper shade, like Contour Powder, to sculpt under your cheekbones and jawline. It might look heavy in person, but it will look like a "lift" on camera.
2. Set It and Forget It Shine is the enemy of the runway. While we love a "dewy" look for brunch, on the runway, sweat looks like grease. Use LAMIK True Mineral Powder to matte down the T-zone, forehead, and chin.
3. Define the Eyes (Even for "Natural" Looks) A "natural" eye on the runway still requires a dark liner and a strong lash. Use Chocolate Lip Liner as a smoky base on the lash line to ensure your eyes don't "disappear" in photos.
4. Bold Lips are Better Unless the designer specifically asks for a nude, a bold lip like A Every Day Red or Stand Out Nude helps the camera find your face. It provides a focal point for the photographer.
5. The Brow Frame If your brows aren't sharp, the whole face looks unfinished. Use the LAMIK Brow Kit to create a defined line that looks clean and structured from a distance.
