Whether I’m backstage at a show like Artopia or on a closed set for a brand shoot, I am always adjusting my technique. A look that looks flawless on the runway might look like "too much" in a close-up head-shot, and a perfect studio look might disappear on a stage.
To Love Your Beauty in every setting, you have to understand how the camera and the lights are talking to your face!
1. The Stage (The Runway Look)
On the stage, you are battling distance and high-intensity overhead lighting.
The Goal: High-contrast definition.
The Technique: You want to go 2–3 shades darker on your contour and bolder on your lip. Think of it as "theatrical" beauty.
The LAMIK Secret: Use your Brow Define Powder for a sharp contour. It needs to be strong enough so the audience in the back row can see your bone structure.
Texture: Keep it matte. Shimmer can reflect stage lights in weird ways, making the skin look oily rather than glowing.
2. The Studio (The Photo Shoot Look)
In the studio, the camera lens is much closer, and the lighting is controlled (soft-boxes and rings).
The Goal: Blended perfection and skin texture.
The Technique: "Less is more." The camera captures every unblended line. You want soft transitions and perfect skin.
The LAMIK Secret: Use True Mineral Powder for a "skin-like" finish. Instead of heavy contour, use a soft highlight like Bronzer to catch the studio lights.
Texture: Dewy and satin finishes look beautiful in the studio. A little "glow" makes the skin look healthy and hydrated in high-definition photos.
🛍️ Your Professional "Multi-Environment" Kit
A true pro has products that can do both. Here are the essentials that transition from the Stage to the Studio:
For the Stage (Bold & Sharp):
Brow Define Powder – For high-contrast contouring.
Bold Lipstick – A bold purple that pops from a distance.
For the Studio (Soft & Flawless):
True Mineral Powder – For a breathable, HD-ready finish.
Netural Lipstick – The perfect neutral for high-def close-ups.
The All-Star (Works for Both!):
LAMIK Brow Kit – Because whether you are 50 feet away or 5 inches away, your brows MUST be on fleek.
JeTara’s Professional Advice
When in doubt, always ask: "Where is the light coming from?" If it's from above (Stage), go bolder. If it's from the front (Studio), go smoother.
Which do you find harder to master: a bold runway look or a soft studio glow?
