Flashback: Celebrating the "Unsung Hero" in All of Us

Looking back through my archives, I came across a moment that still fills my heart with so much gratitude. A few years ago, I had the incredible honor of being named an "Unsung Hero" at a very special event here in Houston.

The Lorene Blackshure Twenty-Fifth Annual Charities and Scholarships Prayer Breakfast was a morning I will never forget. Hosted by the ETA PHI BETA Sorority, INC. (XI Chapter) at Brady’s Landing, the theme was "Celebrating Unsung Heroes."

The Look: Feeling My Best

You know I had to represent! For the occasion, I wore a custom-made dress by the talented Lauren Carmon. I’ll be honest—stepping out in that design, I was definitely "feeling myself." There is something about a custom fit that makes you stand tall and walk with purpose.

The Honor: Beyond the Makeup

It felt truly wonderful to receive an award for the work I do. Being recognized as an "Unsung Hero" reminds me that the beauty industry isn't just about what’s on the surface—it’s about the impact we have on our community and how we serve others.

The turnout for the breakfast was wonderful, filled with people dedicated to charity and scholarships. I even received a beautiful special gift from my LAMIK family, who have been by my side through so much of my journey.

Getting to Know Me

For those of you who have been following my journey recently through my work with LAMIK, I wanted to share a little bit of my history. My name is Jetara "JT" Robertson. I know it can be a mouthful—so if you can’t quite say JET-TARA, please, just call me JT!

Whether I’m receiving an award or helping a client find their perfect foundation shade, my mission remains the same: to celebrate the hero in every woman I meet.

Reflection

Awards are beautiful, but the real reward is the connection I get to make with all of you every day.
