We’ve talked about the regret of hiding from the camera. Today, I want to share how I stay "photo ready" every day. This isn't about a full glam makeover; it’s about a few small habits that make me feel confident enough to say "YES" when someone pulls out a phone to take a family photo.
Whether I’m heading to the studio or just finishing my personal fitness routine at home, these are my non-negotiables:
1. Hydrate First, Coffee Second
The camera picks up on dehydrated skin. My first step is always a large glass of water. It plumps the skin
from the inside out and helps reduce any morning puffiness. Then coffee.
2. The "3-Minute" Skin Prep
I always clean my skin and apply a good moisturizer. Even if I’m not wearing foundation, hydrated skin reflects light better in photos. If I’m feeling a little extra, I’ll use a cold roller to wake up my face!
3. The Brow & Lash Minimum
As you know, I believe the eyes are the star of the face. Even on my "no-makeup" days, I quickly brush through my brows with a gel and add a single coat of mascara. It opens up the eyes and makes me look awake and "put together" in an instant.
4. Posture is Power
This is a lesson from my color guard background: stand tall! Before a photo, I take a deep breath, drop my shoulders, and lift my chin. Good posture instantly changes how you feel and how the camera sees you. It says, "I am here, and I am beautiful."
5. The "Food-Fuel" Mindset
Since I love to eat, I start my day with a high-protein breakfast. It keeps my energy stable so I’m not "hangry" or tired by mid-day. When you feel energized, your smile looks more genuine in pictures!

Being "photo ready" doesn't mean you have to be perfect. It means you’ve taken a few minutes to care for yourself so you can focus on what really matters: the people in the photo with you.
What is one thing you do in the morning that makes you feel most confident?
