The Golden Rule for Picking Your Contour
If there is one makeup technique that has the power to completely transform your look, it’s contouring. It’s the secret to "lifting" those cheekbones and defining your jawline, but I see so many people get stuck on one thing: Choosing the right shade.
Don't let the dark colors in the palette scare you! Here is my professional guide to finding your perfect sculpt.

The "Rule of Two"
When you are selecting a contour shade, the golden rule is to choose a color that is at least 2 shades darker than your natural skin tone. * Why 2 shades? Anything lighter won't create the "shadow" effect needed to sculpt. Anything much darker can look like a smudge rather than a shadow. Two shades is the "sweet spot" for a natural-looking lift.
Don’t Be Afraid to Play!
The best part about makeup is that nothing is permanent. I always encourage my clients to experiment with different colors, shades, and undertones. * Cool vs. Warm: Some faces look best with a "cool" taupe-brown to mimic a natural shadow. Others look radiant with a "warm" reddish-brown (like our Rose Brown Contour) that adds a sun-kissed depth.
Texture Matters: Try a cream contour for a dewy, high-fashion finish, or stay with a matte pressed powder for a clean, everyday look.
"Think of contouring as 'mapping' your face. You aren't trying to change who you are; you’re just turning up the volume on the beautiful structure you already have. Grab a few different shades and see which one makes your cheekbones pop!"
How to Apply Your New Shade
Find the Bone: Use your fingers to feel for your cheekbone.
The Angle: Apply your 2-shades-darker color just under that bone, starting from your ear and moving toward the center of your face.
Blend Up: Always blend upward! We want to lift the face, not drag it down.
