This initiative is all about heart health awareness for women, and our mission was to make sure these incredible women felt as strong and vibrant as they truly are.

5 Rules for the Perfect Ad Photography Look

When you are doing makeup for a campaign or a professional photo shoot, the rules change. The camera "eats" about 30% of your makeup, so you have to be intentional. Here are my 5 rules for a perfect photo:

Matte is Your Best Friend: While we love a glow, camera flashes can make "glow" look like "grease." Use LAMIK True Mineral Powder to keep the T-zone matte while letting the natural highlights of the face shine.
Define the Frame: Brows and lips must be crisp. If the edges are blurry, the photo will look unfinished. I always use the Revelation Brow Duo to ensure the eyes pop.
Check Your Blend: Ad photography is high-resolution. Every unblended line will show up! Take an extra 2 minutes to buff your foundation and shadow.
The "Heart" of the Look: For the Go Red campaign, we focused on healthy, flushed skin and a powerful lip. The makeup should tell the story of the campaign.
The Flash Test: Before the model leaves the chair, take a photo with a flash on your phone. This ensures your foundation doesn't have "flashback" (that white ghostly look) and that the colors look true to life.
