📸 The Magic of Print: Seeing Your Art Come to Life
There is no feeling quite like walking into a store, picking up a magazine like D-Mars, and seeing your work staring back at you. As a makeup artist, seeing your artistry in print is a moment of pure joy. It’s a permanent record of a moment where you helped a woman reveal her inner "Beauty Queen" to the world.
Whether it was the American Heart Association campaign or a fashion spread, seeing my work in print reminds me why I love this industry—it’s about creating a legacy of beauty.
💡 4 Pro-Tips for "Print-Perfect" Makeup
If you are an aspiring artist or a model heading to your first professional shoot, keep these four rules in mind for makeup that translates perfectly to the page:
Avoid High SPF Foundations: Many SPF ingredients cause "flashback," which makes the skin look white or ghostly under professional studio lights. Stick to photography-safe formulas like LAMIK Custom Blend Foundation.
Exaggerate Just a Little: Print photography tends to wash out color. You may feel like your blush or contour is a bit "heavy" in person, but on camera, it will look just right.
The "Inner Corner" Secret: Always add a tiny touch of light shimmer (like Golden Girl Eye Décor) to the inner corners of the eyes. It makes the model look awake and vibrant on the page.
Matte the T-Zone, Not the Whole Face: If you matte everything, the face looks flat in 2D photos. Keep the forehead and nose matte, but let the cheekbones keep their natural moisture to create "dimension."
