Why You Should Ditch the Black Pencil

The Great Brow Intervention:

A client came in recently with a question that stopped me in my tracks. She held up a dark, heavy pencil and asked:

"Do you have a red pencil to replace this black one?"

My answer? "Yes, Yes, and a thousand times YES!" In fact, I practically begged her to throw that black pencil in the trash and promised her she would never need to look back. Here is why we had to make the switch, and why you might want to consider it, too.

The Problem with Pencils

Most people reach for a black pencil because they have dark hair, but black is often too "hard" and takes away from your natural beauty. Furthermore, the texture of a traditional pencil is often too waxy. This wax sits on top of the skin and hair, creating a "painted-on" look that lacks depth and movement.

If you want your brows to look like hair—not like a drawing—you have to change your tools.

The LAMIK Transformation

First, we addressed the foundation. I shaped her brows by waxing them to create a clean, intentional frame for her face. This removed the stray hairs that were blurring her natural arch.

Then, we moved to the fill. Instead of a waxy pencil, we used the LAMIK Brow Kit.

The Right Tone: By switching her to a shade with the correct undertones (like the reddish-brown tones she was looking for), her brows instantly looked warmer, softer, and more youthful.
