Before we dive into the "Roaring 20s" drama, we have to neutralize the skin.
The Calm Canvas: We started with a paraben-free moisturizer to soothe the skin barrier.
Neutralize with Sculpting Cream: I used a light layer of LAMIK Sculpting Cream to spot-conceal areas of high color. This creates a barrier so the red undertones don't "bleed" through your foundation.
The Full Coverage Anchor: We applied the LAMIK Custom Blend Foundation. For clients with redness, a full-coverage, mineral-based formula is best because it provides a physical shield without irritating the skin further.
Get the Look: The 1920s Flapper
To get that authentic silent-movie star vibe, follow these steps:
Step 1 | Brows: 1920s brows were thin and downward-sloping. Use your LAMIK Brow Powder to create a slightly longer, thinner tail than usual. Use Sculpting Cream to sharpen the edges.
Step 2 | Eyes: Smolder is the keyword. We used a dark matte shadow all over the lid and blended it out into a rounded shape (not a cat-eye!).
Step 3 | Liner: Use the
to heavily line the top and bottom lash lines. Smudge the bottom slightly for that "lived-in" smoky look.Onyx Liquid Eye Liner Step 4 | Lashes: Flappers were all about the flutter. The LAMIK Alotta Length Lashes provide that dramatic, wide-eyed look.
Step 5 | Face: Set everything with True Mineral Powder. This is the "insurance policy" that keeps the redness covered and the foundation matte.
Step 6 | Cheeks: Apply your blush in a circular motion on the apples of the cheeks. In the 20s, blush was meant to look like a "flush," not a contour.
Step 7 | Lips: The "Cupid’s Bow" is essential. Use a deep red liner to emphasize the peaks of your upper lip, then fill with a bold, matte red lipstick.
💡 JeTara’s Expert Tip:
"If you have redness, avoid 'True Red' lipsticks with orange undertones, as they can actually make skin irritation look more visible. Stick to blue-based reds—they'll make your teeth look whiter and your skin look calmer!"
Always check the ingredients before using a new product. Your skin is the largest organ. Remember, some of what you put on your skin can be absorbed into your bloodstream
