🏆 Award-Winning Beauty: The Nzuri Makeup Artist of the Year Reveal

A milestone journey for me—I was incredibly honored to be named the Nzuri Makeup Artist of the Year. One of the highlights following that win was the joy of doing the beautiful Lola’s makeup for a major magazine shoot.

When you are on a high-stakes shoot, the makeup has to be precise, photographic, and "Timeless." I wanted her to Look LAMIK—which means radiant skin, a powerful brow, and a classic red lip. Here is the professional "playbook" I used to create this award-winning look.

🎨 The Magazine Masterclass: Step-by-Step

Phase 1: The Canvas & The Frame

Prep: We always start with a clean, toned, and moisturized face using the LAMIK Skin System.
The Brows: I filled her brows using the Celebrity Brow Kit in Southside and used K33 Brighten Cream to highlight and "lift" the brow bone.
The Lids: I based the lids with K33 to ensure the color stayed vibrant under the studio lights. I swept Sandy Beaches Eye Décor all over, contoured the crease with Northside, and added a pop of Golden Girl in the tear duct to make her eyes "twinkle" on camera.

Phase 2: The Definition

Liner & Lashes: I lined her eyes with Dazzle Black Eye Décor and applied Thick Strip Lashes to ensure her eyes didn't get "lost" in the photography flash.

Phase 3: The "Flawless Skin" Architecture

This is where the award-winning technique happens. We don't just "apply" foundation; we build it.

Spot Correction: Applied skin-tone Brighten Crème (BC) under the eyes and over dark spots.
The Base: Applied LAMIK Full Coverage Foundation (FCF) all over.
The Light: I applied a second layer of BC in a triangle from under the eye to the top of the cheekbone, cutting into the point of the nose. This creates that "lit from within" look.
The Set: I used True Mineral Powder (TMP) in her natural tone all over, with a lighter TMP specifically under the eyes to bake and brighten.

Phase 4: The Sculpt & Glow

Contour: I used LAMIK Bronzer below the cheekbone, along the hairline/jawline, and down the nose to create a slim, sculpted silhouette.
Cheeks: I placed I-20 on the top of the cheekbone for a glow and I-85 on the apples of the cheeks for that perfect flush.

Phase 5: The Classic Finish

Lips: No magazine shoot is complete without a power lip. I lined her lips with Maple Lip Liner and filled them in with our iconic Really Red Lipstick.
