🎨 The Masterclass: Decoding Your Undertones

Before you pick your next lipstick or foundation, you have to know your "Base Note." Your Undertone is the color underneath the surface of your skin. While your skin tone might change with the seasons (tan in the summer, paler in the winter), your undertone stays the same forever.

The best part about working at the LAMIK is we package the products, so if a client needs we can adjust a tone for them, making a custom blend foundation.

Here is my classic "Three-Step Test" to find yours.

1. The Vein Test

Look at the veins on the inside of your wrist in natural sunlight.

Cool: Your veins appear Blue or Purple.
Warm: Your veins appear Green or Olive.
Neutral: You can’t quite tell—they look like a mix of both.

2. The Jewelry Test

Think about which metal makes your skin "glow" more (not just which one you like more!).

Cool: Silver or White Gold makes your skin look vibrant.
Warm: Yellow Gold makes your skin look radiant.
Neutral: You look equally stunning in both silver and gold.

3. The White Paper Test

Hold a piece of plain white paper up to your bare face in the mirror.

Cool: Your skin looks Pink or Rosy next to the paper.
Warm: Your skin looks Yellow or Golden next to the paper.
Neutral: Your skin looks Grey or Ashy next to the paper.

I wear the LAMIK Full Coverage Foundation; my blend is a Med Dark; Pink Undertone with extra yellow add. If I want a extra highlight under my eyes I use Medium; Pink undertones Full Coverage Foundation which is one shade lighter than my skin tone. To contour I use Dark; Pink undertones which is 2 shades darker than my skin tone. I only apply the Dark; Pink undertones right under my cheek bone.

Always check the ingredients before using a new product. Your skin is the largest organ. Remember, some of what you put on your skin can be absorbed into your bloodstream
